- This option allows you to set up a register file. The file attf on the
- disc is set up as an example but you will need to "reset" it using the
- program reset to erase all holiday and Saturdays and Sundays etc. If you
- want to keep a copy of the original make sure you back it up onto another
- disc. It is essential that you set up the file as far as the computer is
- concerned in the year the register is to begin. eg setting up a register in
- July 1989 assumes it is to start in September 1989. The program uses the
- computer's clock in order to workout when actions take place. You can change
- the clock in order to simulate other years but it should be kept accurate at
- all other times. To display the current time type *TIME <Return> (when not
- in the program but in BASIC entered by F12 *BASIC from the desktop) To set a time type
- TIME$="Fri,..etc......" in the same format as printed out by *TIME. All leap
- years etc are accounted for automatically and week-ends calculated and
- inserted. Once you tell the program when your holidays occur they will be
- inserted in every record and you can't change them once you start the
- register. Accuracy is therefore essential here. When the calendar is
- displayed point at the appropriate date with the mouse and
- press the left button to insert Hs for holidays. The right button will reset
- mistakes. When you press the space bar the program assigns this pattern to
- every student record in the file almost instantly and the saves the file
- attf to disc.
